About Us

Airwatergreen was founded in 2009 in Uppsala, Sweden, by Fredrik Edström and Jonas Wamstad on an idea of how to condense water from air in a more cost efficient way than today's market leading Sorption and Heat Pump technologies. More specifically, the idea was about how to condense water vapor from air by using heat instead of electricity for running the process.

The company's aim at the start was to make water available in water-stressed areas. Why not use air, the world's most available water resource, as the water provider? Part of the problem in these areas was the fact that electricity is expensive. The use of photovoltaic solar cells will not be a solution to this problem for a long time since is does not produce electricity cheap enough.

Heat however is cheaper. In fact, it is so cheap that we throw away enormous amounts of it every day in factories, transportations and buildings - we call it waste heat, which is probably the world's most neglected energy form. Waste heat is for free. And would you not have waste heat available, then solar heat can be applied. Today's existing Solar Heat technology is able to utilize sunlight many times more efficiently than Solar Electricity technology.

Airwatergreen soon realized that this technology, called CMCRTM, could be applied on the dehumidification market. The technology produces liquid water and dry air from air and heat. Dry air is a treasured commodity in many business areas, such as the warehouse, manufacturing, food and real estate industries. Today, dehumidification is one of Airwatergreen's main business areas.
